President Muhammadu Buhari has prayed the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal sitting at the Court of Appeal, Abuja, to order the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to grant him access to examine electoral materials.

However, in an exparte application through his lawyers led by Wole Olanipekun (SAN), and dropped at the tribunal on Thursday, Buhari demanded access to examine the presidential election materials.
He asked the Court of Appeal to compel INEC to permit him access to examine and make copies of the documents and to be certified as true copies by the electoral umpire.

He based his application on the provisions of Section 151 (1) and (2) of the Electoral Act.
Recall that presidential candidate of the Peoples political party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, who came second in this election had also asked the election tribunal to compel INEC to provide sensitive and none sensitive materials used for the election for inspection and scanning.
The court had since March 6 granted him the prayer.
